Simple Playdate How To.

One thing I LOVE to do is have playdates! It is so important for the littles to play with their friends and have social interaction with other children. It is so important that mama’s connect with each other, laugh together, support one another, listen to each other, share secrets together. Sometimes I NEED a playdate for ME. Last week we had a wonderful playdate at our house and I wanted to share with you some super simple, quick ideas that will make your friends feel special, loved, and welcome! This is what I did:

I started the morning by waking up before the littles and making muffins, not from scratch… All I had to do was add milk and toss the batter into the oven! Simple but meaningful! (Tip: I always add a mashed banana into the banana nut mix – it makes the muffins super moist and yummy!)

I also made mini muffins just for the littles!

I cut up some strawberries and mixed in some blueberries. I also put out goldfish, gummies, and bunny cookies for the littles to enjoy – I want them to feel special too! Of course, coffee was piping hot and ready for us mamas to sip on between giggles and chatting about the kids.

I also have these lovely hydrangeas in the backyard! So, I always like to snip a few and stick them in old salsa dishes or old baby food jars throughout the house. A super simple touch that brings outside beauty inside our home. I smile every time I see them.

Of course a playdate is not perfect until the playroom is filled with giggles, laughs, songs and mad chaos. I love it when the house is filled with happiness!

And in the midst of the chaos, chatting with the other mamas, laughter, snacks and coffee, I see this...

Which totally makes my entire week. And I feel so blessed that I have such wonderful friends that make eye contact with me and silently celebrate this moment with me. They get it. They are just as excited as I am for Cliff’s future. They are proud and I am so thankful to be surrounded by such wonderful people.

Host a playdate.
Do a few simple things to make your friends feel welcome and loved.
It doesn’t have to take an entire day to prepare for – all of this took me about 30 min TOTAL!
What is your favorite way to host a playdate at your house?!

  1. You are SO cute! I wish we lived in the same city so Field and I could come too! We just moved into a new house and I can't wait to host a playdate. We have several different playrooms and play areas and I can't wait to share it all with our friends. Last time I hosted one was around Christmas time and I actually ordered lunch to be delivered for the mamas and then had a little ornament for each baby when they left as the party favor. :) The babies were all still drinking bmilk/formula...so didn't have to provide food for them. :) On another note, as I arrange my new house, I keep looking around for things I can spruce up like you would. I have added ribbon and cute little knots to our wipe off calendar and I am brainstorming what to do with a wooden bench. I'll keep you posted!

  2. What a fun playdate! I wish our kiddos could play together :) Lately we've been having swimming playdates. We fill up the baby pool, toss in shovels, pitchers and cups and get out the chex mix, popsicles and big bowls of strawberries and blackberries. We don't forget the sunscreen, either!

  3. I wish both of you lived on either side of me! - Wouldnt that be PERFECT?!? Hopefully ONE DAY we can get together - Lisa, I think I would cry seeing our boys together because they have been through sooo much and are truly miracles! And Jenny - Ummm forget the kids! (Totally kidding) We would leave the littles with the husbands and sew, craft and sew until our hands wouldn't move anymore! Yep, So both of you pack it up and move to good old SC!
