Summer Wreath How-To!

Here is how I made my Summer Wreath!

Start with a plain grapevine wreath (got mine from Hobby Lobby, 50% off of course)

If you are anything like me then you have a ton of scrap strips of fabric and left over pieces of ruffles. So get out your left over strips/ruffles and decide which fabrics you want to use:

Then simply begin to tie the strips or ruffles onto your wreath like this:

If it is a ruffle, then I like to tie it onto the wreath THEN pull the thread to ruffle each end.

Now tie pieces of ribbon on there too and eventually you will have this:

Now for the initial (in my case a "P"). You aren't going to believe how I made this one!

Ok, so I totally forgot to get a wooden "P" from Hobby Lobby and loading the kids up again was out of the question... so I decided to make a "P" out of a cereal box! I went to the computer and printed the outline of a "P" that I liked. Then got a cereal box...

I traced the "P."

And cut it out.

Then I flipped my "P" over and hot glued popcicle sticks to the back so it would keep it's shape during the humid summers down here.

I took this bad boy outside and gave it a good spray with metallic spray paint!

After the spray paint was dry, I took the eraser of a pencil and dipped it into blue and green paints creating the perfect little polka dots on my "P!"

Then I sprinkled clear glitter all over while the polks dots were still wet - everything is better with glitter!

After the dots were dry, I took a little piece of ribbon and folded it in half.

Then hot glued it onto the top corner of the "P." Now I can tie it to the wreath!

Ok, for the rosettes, I took a strip of fabric that was about 1 inch wide and 20 inches long (the longer the strip the larger the rosette) and tied a knot in the end. Then I wrapped/twisted and glued , wrapped/twisted and glued, and wrapped/twisted and glued...

Once your rosette is finished, hot glue a round piece of felt onto the back. Then put some hot glue onto the top of the felt and...

Place it on the wreath! Hold it in place until the glue is dry! I placed the rosettes all over to cover the gaps and spots that looked a little bare.

And then you have an awesome Summer Wreath!

Hang this proudly on your front door!

Would you ever guess that my "P" is made out of cardboard?!

Yay for Summer!
