I have received an enormous amount of emails asking about Cliff and his progress, so I decided that Sunday's will be "See Cliff Go Sunday!" I did not realize how many of you were following Cliff's journey or how many of you would be interested in seeing his progress after surgery! Your support is amazing! Ross and I are so grateful for such a wonderful support system and most of all your prayers!
For those of you who are just joining us, you can see Cliff's journey under the Topics, Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy on the right side of the page!
Monday Post-Op day 6 we flew home! How wonderful is it to be home!
This was Cliff's view outside of his window flying home when we were about to land.
The view was spectacular! It was as if God was welcoming us home!
Cliff had his first Physical Therapy session with his PT bright and early the next morning!
Post-Op day 7 Cliff sat on the bench without support for the first time since his surgery!
He also stomped his feet for the first time ever!
Post-Op day 8 Cliff took steps while holding my hands! He stood for 30 seconds too! Cliff "hopped like a frog" for the first time ever! He LOVES to hop now! He can actually bend his knees and "jump" (with our help, of course)! He did not want anything to do with his walker, so we tried a Gate Trainer and he felt more secure! He took some steps in it too!
Post-Op day 9, Cliff had his first day of 2 hours of therapy and he did wonderful. During PT Cliff decided he liked his walker and stood in it! THEN he took about 5 steps using his walker for the first time since his surgery! His little legs are very weak and his knees tend to buckle, but with time and lots of practice he will gain strength and endurance! Go Cliff Go! During his second therapy session, Early Intervention (EI), Cliff decided he wanted to play at the coffee table on "tall knees!" He played with play dough and these magnetic buggy blocks with BOTH hands! He was not holding on to the table for dear life anymore!!!
Post-Op Day 10, there were no pictures. And for a very good reason might I add! Cliff did not want ANYTHING to do with PT or his Post-Op Exercises! He was a TOTAL grouch all day! But I still love him to pieces and I did manage to squeeze in a teeny bit of PT with him right before bed time (which couldn't come soon enough that day!)
Cliff woke up very grouchy on Post-Op Day 11 too! I think he may be a little sore from working hard this week, so we took a little trip to Hobby Lobby (yes, my three year old asks to go to Hobby Lobby... yes, he thinks it's "special"...like going to the zoo... or the fair because he sees how excited I get when we go there! Sad, but oh so very true!) Then he demanded we eat lunch at Groucho's (a local Deli) so we did, which ended up being waaaay to much for him, do we inhaled our lunch and rushed home so he could lay down. Ross and I did manage to get him to do his Post-Op Exercises while watching the saddest football game EVER...
We are so proud of Cliff! He seems to almost have all of his energy back (...most of the time...)! When he does something new that he has never done before, his little face lights up with joy! It is like Christmas Morning everyday for me and Ross because we don't know that Cliff is going to do next! We are so excited for him and his future! He is amazing! I cannot wait to see what tomorrow brings for him!

How wonderful! I pray he contunes to keep getting better.
ReplyDeleteI must say we love Hobby Lobby too. It's a great store!
