Post Op Week 3!

Exhausting.

That's the word that sums up this week.

Cliff had one, MAYBE two good days at PT this week...

He had a very good reason though... On Post-Op Day 14, Cliff slid off of his therapy bench which caused his incision to bleed. I noticed some puss coming from the incision too... so I called Dr. Park's office and they said to rush Cliff to his Pediatrician's office. Not thinking about the time I did and we walked in the door at the Ped's office at 5:30ish... they were closed, but lucky for me the front door was still unlocked! So I did what any "ithinkiamgoingtohaveaheartattack-isthisreallyhappening panic stricken" mother would do and go right on in! Cliff needed to been seen NOW! Thankfully his awesome Dr was just walking out the back door and the nurse caught her just in time to take a glance at Cliff's back! She said we needed to go to the hospital because the incision did not look good... NOT what I wanted to hear... so across the street we went. At first we were told that Cliff would be admitted and probabally be put under for an MRI to see how bad the infection really was and then that he may have to go back into the OR for them to flush the incision out.... Again, NOT what we wanted to hear! But after the Dr talked to the Ped Neuro, we were told that we could take Cliff home and see him FIRST thing in the morning! AMEN! So the next day we went to the Neurosurgeon and since we caught the infection so early, he put Cliff on oral antibiotics!... That was what we wanted to hear! We are praying the infection will clear up and we can move on!

Other than that DRAMA... Cliff did walk a little more with his walker this week and he also did alot of tall kneeling too! It is frusturating to all of us when he does not feel well and cannot do his best during PT... Hopefully next week will be a better week for us!

Thank you for you prayers! They are what keep us going!
