"Monks & Pups"

Here are Cliff's best friends:

"Monks" and "Pups"

They have been with Cliff since the very beginning. When I was in labor Cliff, we knew he would go straight to the NICU, so I took the monkey and put him on my chest so he would smell like me. He spent hours with me in Labor & Delivery and then stayed in the NICU with Cliff for 18 days! Needless to say, "Monks" is a trooper!

See, me and "Monks" right before Cliff was born:

"Monks" keeping Cliff company in the NICU:

Every morning when I go in to wake Cliff, They are there:

He has chewed on them since he was a baby and they are beginning to show some wear and tear... they also have a "funk" to them that NO amount of detergent can get out (tips welcome!)... I dare not replace them, so I decided to sew their "corners" shut to prevent further fraying. Here they are before their little "fix":

See, they are VERY worn and chewed up!

Here's how they turned out:

All Better! (...at least for now...)

Do you or your children have a special lovey?!

  1. I found your blog by being a "shout out" on Sassy Sites. I have been reading back on your Special Needs and clicked over and over and saw this and it touched me.

When I was born, my dad gave me "Tubby". Tubby was my stuffed teddy bear that was also my best friend. Over the course of the years, Tubby went through many surgeries over the years and eventually when I was about 23, I let him go. He had gone so very far with me and was a dear treasure to me.

I think that these will go through many repairs over the years and even if they end up being put up on a shelf, they are still well loved.
